Terms & Conditions

Welcome to True Guide Rio. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all bookings and participation in our tours and services. By booking with us, you agree to these Terms as well as our Privacy Policy.

1) Definitions

  • “We/Us/Company”: True Guide Rio.

  • “You/Traveler/Client”: The person(s) making a booking or joining a tour.

  • “Tour”: Any experience, transfer, or service offered by True Guide Rio.
 

2) Booking, Contract & Confirmation

  • A booking is confirmed when you complete checkout and receive a Booking Confirmation by email.

  • The person making the booking accepts these Terms on behalf of all travelers listed.

3) Prices, Currency & What’s Included

  • Prices are shown in BRL unless otherwise stated and may change until a booking is confirmed.

  • Inclusions are listed on each tour page. Typical inclusions for private city tours are private guide and private transportation (hotel pick-up/drop-off within Rio city limits, unless stated otherwise).

  • Not included unless specified: attraction entrance tickets (e.g., Christ the Redeemer train/van, Sugarloaf cable car), meals, drinks, personal expenses, and gratuities.

4) Payment Methods

You can choose one of the methods below during checkout:

  • PayPal: Charged at booking. Any bank/PayPal fees are your responsibility.

  • International Bank Transfer (Wire): Payment instructions are emailed after checkout. Your booking is held for 24 hours pending receipt; if funds are not received in time, availability cannot be guaranteed. Sender pays bank fees.

  • Book Now, Pay Later: No payment at checkout. You agree to pay on the day of the tour in BRL (cash) or as otherwise agreed in writing prior to the tour.

5) Cancellations & Changes by You

  • Free cancellation or date change up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

  • Within 24 hours or no-show: 100% of the tour price is due/retained.

  • To cancel or change, reply to your confirmation email with your booking reference.
 

6) Cancellations & Changes by Us

  • We may modify or cancel a tour due to weather, safety, strikes, road closures, attraction closures, force majeure or circumstances beyond our control.

  • If we cancel before start time and cannot offer a reasonable alternative, you’ll receive a full refund of amounts paid to us (this excludes any third-party costs you paid directly, such as bank fees).

7) Itinerary, Timing & Closures

  • Stated durations and sequences are approximate; Rio traffic, weather, and attraction lines can impact timing.

  • If an attraction closes unexpectedly (e.g., Christ the Redeemer operations or Sugarloaf cable car), we’ll adapt the route with the best available alternatives. Refunds are limited to any pre-paid entrance we collected from you for closed sites.

8) Pick-Up, Drop-Off & Waiting Time

  • Pick-up is available within Rio de Janeiro city (common tourist areas). Pick-ups outside the city or at airports/cruise ports may require a surcharge—confirm with us in advance.

  • Standard grace period is 15 minutes at pick-up. Delays beyond this reduce tour time; no-show after 30 minutes may be treated as a cancellation.

9) Accessibility, Health & Fitness

  • Our walking segments can include stairs and uneven surfaces (e.g., Selarón Steps). Please inform us before booking about mobility needs.

  • You are responsible for carrying any required IDs, visas, vaccination or health documents.

10) Children & Seats

  • Children are welcome on private tours. Child seats must be requested at least 24 hours before the tour and are subject to availability.

11) Traveler Conduct & Safety

  • Follow your guide’s instructions and local regulations at all times. We may refuse service or remove any traveler whose behavior is unsafe, unlawful, or disruptive—no refund will be due.

12) Third-Party Services

  • Some elements (e.g., entrance tickets, cable car/train rides) are operated by third parties and are subject to their terms and operating decisions. We are not responsible for third-party delays, closures, or price changes.

13) Travel Insurance

  • We strongly recommend adequate travel, health, and cancellation insurance to cover unforeseen events, medical costs, and personal property.

14) Liability

  • To the fullest extent permitted by Brazilian law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid to us for the affected service. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, nor for loss, theft, or damage to belongings unless caused by our proven negligence.

15) Photos, Media & Reviews

  • With your consent, we may capture photos/videos during the tour. You grant us a non-exclusive right to use such media for promotional purposes, unless you opt out in writing before the tour. You remain welcome to share honest reviews of your experience.

16) Privacy

  • We collect and process personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. By booking, you consent to such processing needed to operate your tour (e.g., contact, pick-up coordination, payment processing).

17) Changes to These Terms

  • We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the moment of booking applies to your reservation.

18) Governing Law & Jurisdiction

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Any dispute shall be submitted to the competent courts of Rio de Janeiro/RJ, without prejudice to consumer rights.
